About Us
John W. Abert & his wife Sharon M. Abert, formerly of northern Indiana, now reside in beautiful Cherokee Village, AR, the first planned retirement community in the country (est. 1955). Both he and Sharon grew up on farms and are used to doing whatever it takes to get the job done. Sharon was able to take early retirement (after 27 years) from her job as executive assistant for a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company Miles Laboratories, now Bayer AG). John is a former builder and master electrician with a specialty in robotics and automation. John & Sharon decided to leave "snow country" in 1992, and moved to their second home at Cherokee Village. Using it as a base, they traveled in their 40-foot motorhome from Florida to northern Michigan, and from south Texas to Portland, Oregon, until they decided to try Mesa, AZ for awhile in the fall of 1994. While there they got involved with the internet, and started their own company, Azgrand Internet Marketing, in early 2000. They started out with 18 different store-front web sites carrying over a million products, but soon found out that it takes more than a web site to get traffic. Also, the margins were slim, and many of the products that they thought were good, no one was buying! That's when they started to get really serious about finding out how to get the right products that people will buy, and how to get traffic to the site so people know they exist! Some of the early seminars were total rip-offs, but even in those, they learned what NOT to do! There have also been some good seminars, and after being "in the loop" with the major players for a few years, they finally figured out who to trust. In 2004, they acquired a distributorship with Ernst tool organizing products and have built that into an internet business that is "as grand" (therefore the name) as any brick and mortar store, and that they can run well into retirement. Until recently, when they decided to drop that product line, their company has been one of the largest full-line stocking distributors of Ernst tool organizers on the internet, or in the world. After ten years of the heat and traffic of Mesa, AZ , it had gotten the best of them. Also, most family members are still in Indiana, within a days drive of Arkansas, so they decided to return to Cherokee Village again in May of 2005, where they continue to build their internet business. The single most important thing that has made their business successful is the importance they place on customer service. Both Sharon and John despise the mindless (and many times meaningless) messages kicked out by autoresponders, so to date they haven't started using one. Their emails have always been personally written. They answer each and every email they receive (within hours). This may have to change as their business grows, and they expand into digital products, but they are going to hang onto this very important factor in their service for as long as they can. In their internet ventures, they both put their business and technical experience to use, doing clerical functions, web work, and (as always) whatever it takes to get the job done. Azgrand Internet Marketing, and now the new Toolsorter.com site, has enjoyed a comfortable growth rate for the past two years, and 2010 is on target to be the best year yet. Sharon also maintains her own blog site for the passion she has in music at http://musicdecorandmore.blogspot.com where she offers many items related to a musical theme. Many other sites and blogs are currently being built to continually expand the business toward more digital and drop-shipped products. Eventually they hope to follow
their dream and do some traveling again, but that will come in the summer of
2010. |
